Silas Sylvaker

Silas is my main character, and the main antagonist in Wooly Wolf Ranch, a series set in a fictional world known as the Woolylands. Silas lives on the titular ranch with his brother, Sullivan, where together they raise livestock such as cattle and sheep, and tend to crops.

Silas is friendly, gentle, and has a soft heart, but he is very shy, anxious, and struggles to trust others. He also has a bit of a mischievious side to him, and can be rather stubborn, which has often gotten him into trouble. Silas is very smart, but he does not always think his ideas out as well as he should, sometimes leading him into situations he regrets. Thankfully, his brother Sully often helps to be a voice of reason in Silas' predicaments. Silas does deeply care for others, and although sometimes he struggles to always show it, he is very empathetic. He will often speak up when things do not sound right.

Silas has a strong passion for farming, and spends most of his day either taking care of his sheep, working on the fields, or tending his garden. When not working on the farm, he likes to work with wood, read a book, or take a nap. Silas longs to have a family, and is secretly a hopeless romantic. But he would never want anyone to know that, either - he is very awkward about it and fears being teased.

Backstory

Silas left "home" with his siblings - Sid, Sullivan and Selby (Sylvan went missing) - after a disaster occurred and they became estranged from their parents. Silas was left with only a letter from his father leading him to a ranch that was secretly left to him, that they had not known of prior. Trusting his siblings, Silas led them to said ranch, where they expected to meet someone taking care of the land, only to find that the caretaker had passed away some time before they reached it. This was the ranch which became "Wooly Wolf Ranch".

However, Silas is met with some complications when his oldest brother, Sid, desires to take the ranch for himself to make a profit from it.

Silas' past is complicated, and he prefers to not speak of it or his childhood. In fact, he struggles to remember a lot of it, only seeming to remember fragments of it, and any attempt to remember more causes him confusion and headaches. Although Silas seems to have a negative view towards his past, most of his memories of his father seem positive. However, he rarely speaks of his mother. Silas is extremely self-concious and struggles to open up a lot, which may be a result of his past, and frequently being teased.

Trivia

• Silas is a story character, but I also consider him as one of my sonas! He is more of a secondary sona (not a "truesona"); he is in no way meant to be exactly me, but I see a part of myself in him and relate to him. He is often used as a comfort or vent sona.
• He plays the banjo! He often plays in a duo with Sully (who plays the fiddle).
• Originally, Silas played the Appalachian dulcimer. I wanted to keep this as his intrument, but for personal reasons, I changed it to a banjo (I also think this works better for his duo with Sully). Instead, I gave Sylvan the dulcimer.
• Silas used to be "fully anthro" (always stood on two legs and wore full clothing). Although his "fully anthro" form still exists, it became a secondary AU form and not his main appearance.
• Silas' design was actually somewhat based on Peter the Sheep's. (Which is why their markings are similar).
